Feathered Beauties of the Sunshine Coast

We were first introduced to birdwatching in April 2016 when we had a beautiful immature Harris' Sparrow visit our property for several days. A veteran Birder & friend told us this bird was rare in our area (Powell River) & we needed to record our sighting. It was this feathered beauty that initiated our journey to become very involved in the Cornell Lab of Ornithology's Citizen Science Research program to record all of our observations. This gives researchers valuable info on the stability & movement of birds.

Since then we have logged 220 different species, 199 in our home community. We volunteered with the Birds Canada Waterbird Survey for 4 years and we actively share our passion with various groups.

From Hummingbirds to Sparrows to Warblers to Eagles every bird makes a valuable difference in the circle of life.

Your area gets some really neat birds...often different birds than we do in Powell River as well as some neat rare ones!

We look forward to sharing our passion with your group...hopefully it will help you discover more of the feathered beauties found in your beautiful area & right in your very own gardens!
