Nancy Moore will present a slideshow on the Sun Yat-Sen Garden in view of the Classical Chinese Garden Design.

The Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Garden is the first authentic Ming Dynasty-style “scholar's“ garden to be built outside of China. 

Completed in 1986 (in time for Expo 86), it was built by Chinese craftsmen using traditional tools, methods, and materials imported from China.

The garden follows the principles of Taoism and Feng Shui and relies heavily on architecture and hardscaping.  Plants are used sparingly, but chosen very carefully for their shape, texture and blooming time.  The result is a very beautiful but very different garden from those we are familiar with here in B.C.

This presentation will hopefully give you a little more insight into Vancouver's garden treasure.
